About Helen

Helen English is a contemporary painter based near Rotorua, New Zealand, working primarily in acrylic, ink, and mixed media.

Her work centres on women within natural environments, using painterly realism and subtle abstraction to explore themes of connection, symbolism, and the relationship between people and place.

Rather than depicting the natural world as backdrop, her paintings position it as an active presence—something to engage with, respond to, and move through.

Alongside her studio practice, Helen creates mural work and exhibits both in New Zealand and internationally.
